Mechanical Supervisor

Overview

Our client, a global innovator in the specialty materials industry, is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Supervisor. This role supports their site, production, and maintenance departments by optimising equipment performance, ensuring reliability, and maintaining high safety standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing planned and corrective maintenance tasks to maintain smooth operations and reduce downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults on various production and site service equipment.
  • Project Collaboration: Work closely with the Project Engineer to implement improvements and manage project work.
  • Leadership: Provide strong leadership to the mechanical team, including shift technicians, day shift technicians, apprentices, and contractors, ensuring high standards of working practices and professionalism.
  • Safety and Quality Commitment: Demonstrate an outstanding commitment to safety and quality, ensuring all work complies with relevant legislation, standards, and codes of practice.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Lead the maintenance team in executing preventative maintenance and periodic inspections on all machines and equipment.
  • Training and Support: Ensure team members have the necessary training, resources, and support to complete their tasks effectively.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor the team's performance, identify areas for improvement, and ensure timely completion of all documentation and paperwork.
  • Risk Management: Ensure all risk assessments and method statements are relevant and adhered to.
  • Team Management: Manage, develop, and motivate the team, including performance assessments and handling disciplinary procedures in collaboration with HR.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with site representatives to provide job progress and technical updates.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a mechanical supervisory role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and mechanical fault diagnosis skills.
